>The Orange County Sherriff’s Department responded to a motorcycle accident in Lake Forest on Saturday, May 4, 2012 that sent the rider to the hospital with injuries. The accident involved a collision between a truck and a motorcyclist, and the northbound lanes of Trabuco Road were closed to traffic for investigation and clean up following the accident.
According to the report, an unnamed motorcyclist was traveling on Trabuco Road near the intersection of Red River Drive just before noon on Saturday. Lt. Steve Gil, of the Orange County Sherriff’s Department, said that the accident took place when a truck turned in front of the motorcycle, causing the rider to crash into the driver’s side of the truck. While the driver of the truck was uninjured, the motorcyclist had to be transferred to an area hospital with serious leg injuries. According to Lt. Gil, the rider’s injuries were not considered life threatening. There has not yet been an update released regarding the rider’s condition.
Motorcyclists are often injured by drivers who suddenly turn in front of them, and it’s important for both drivers and riders to always be aware when on the road. While not every accident can be avoided, taking extra caution could reduce the risk that you’re involved in an Orange County motorcycle wreck.
