A Corona del Mar man was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street on Tuesday, November 28, in Newport Beach. Local police say the man was crossing outside of a crosswalk at night, and the driver who struck the pedestrian stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. While the deadly California pedestrian accident is still under investigation, Newport Beach Police did not cite or arrest the driver.
The fatal California car accident occurred on San Joaquin Hills Road between MacArthur Boulevard and San Miguel Drive. Around 7:40 p.m., a 58-year-old Newport Beach resident driving a Porsche Carrera struck 71-year-old Ghorbanali Norouzian as he was crossing the road mid-street. Another pedestrian was also crossing the street, but was not involved or injured in the collision. He was not identified by police.
Norouzian was rushed to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana for treatment. Sadly, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s coroner’s office, Norouzian was pronounced dead an hour after the crash.
Traffic in the accident area was affected for several hours as officials investigated the accident, collected evidence, and spoke with witnesses. Anyone with information about the fatal crash should contact the Newport Beach Police Department. The police neither charged the driver, nor released his name.
The Orange County car accident attorneys at Russell & Lazarus extend their heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Ghorbanali Norouzian.
