Drunk driving claims too many lives each year in Orange County. In tragic news from an article in the Daily Pilot, the Mission Viejo man who was seriously injured in a March 31 accident with a suspected DUI driver in Irvine has now died. According to the Orange County Coroner’s office, the victim, 29-year-old Theodore Brewsaugh, was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The time of death was reported as 10:31 p.m.
The accident that caused Brewsaugh’s fatal injuries occurred on Sunday, March 31 of this year in Irvine. Brewsaugh, a 27-year-old female passenger, and two dogs were traveling in a Mazda hatchback. While stopped at the intersection of Irvine Boulevard and Sand Canyon Avenue around 1:20 a.m., the vehicle was rear-ended by a Toyota 4Runner driven by 30-year-old Brad Marsicano. Brewsaugh, who was the driver of the Mazda, suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transferred to the hospital, where he died almost one week later. One of the dogs riding in Brewsaugh’s vehicle was also killed in the accident. At the time of this report, no further information was available about the condition of the other occupants of the vehicles.
According to the police, officers believe that drunk driving played a part in the accident, and Marsicano, also a resident of Mission Viejo, was arrested at the scene for suspected DUI.
