A tragic Orange County auto accident has left one female passenger dead, according to the Orange County Register. The wreck took place in Buena Park around 6:15 p.m. on February 17, and the young woman who lost her life has now been identified as 18-year-old Hanel Lozano, of Bellflower.
According to Buena Park police, the accident took place just north of La Palma Avenue in the southbound lanes of Valley View Street on Sunday evening. Lozano was a passenger in a black Jeep Cherokee—along with several other passengers—when the driver lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason. The Jeep collided with at least two other vehicles before overturning, hitting a tree, and coming to a stop in the median.
Coroner’s officials report that, shortly after the accident, Hanel Lozano was pronounced dead at the scene. No serious injuries were reported from the drivers or passengers of the other cars that were hit by the Jeep. Some passengers of the Jeep were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be removed by emergency workers, but no other injuries have been reported. No further names have been released, and the accident is still under investigation. Buena Park police officials have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol contributed to this fatal, multi-car crash.
The Orange County auto accident attorneys with Russell & Lazarus are deeply saddened by the news of this fatal accident, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of Hanel Lozano at this difficult time.
