A drunk driver on the 91 in Anaheim allegedly caused three different traffic accidents in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 23. One Orange County car accident occurred when the vehicle slammed into the median of the interstate. Two other car accidents took place as the driver attempted to flee the scene of the crash. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the first accident occurred when an unidentified woman merged onto the 91 from Lakeview Avenue, crossed all lanes of traffic, and slammed into the concrete median. In the moments after the crash, the woman, who is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, put the car into reverse and slammed into a second car carrying two people. Just minutes later, the woman struck a pickup truck on the same interstate, causing the vehicle to flip into the air. Two people—the driver and the passenger—were ejected from the truck as it rolled over. The drunk driver, the two occupants of the first car which was struck, and the two pickup truck occupants all were seriously injured in the three crashes. Police say that both the original driver and the driver of the second car were driving under the influence and would be charged with a DUI. The male passenger of the pickup truck remains in critical condition. The westbound lanes of the freeway were closed for about two hours, but re-opened around 4:00 a.m. The Newport Beach accident attorneys at Russell & Lazarus wish all involved in the crashes a swift and complete recovery from their injuries.
