Crane Operator Injured In Los Angeles Construction Accident

The Los Angeles Fire Department and local emergency paramedics responded to a California construction accident and worker injury near the Beverly Center earlier this week.

According to Los Angeles news sources, the crane accident took place just after eleven in the morning on Wednesday, September 26, on North La Cienega Boulevard when the piece of heavy equipment tipped, toppling the cab of the crane into the street and the boom into the excavation pit it was operating near.

The operator of the crane, who has not yet been identified, reportedly rode the crane down as it overturned, seriously injuring his leg in the construction accident. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the treatment of his work injury.

This is not the first crane accident to take place in Southern California this month. On September 20, a large crane allegedly ran a red light on El Toro Road in Lake Forest. The crash took place at 6:30 a.m. when a 60,000-pound, 25-foot-long crane was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Portola/Santa Margarita. The crane accident, which authorities believe took place after the crane driver failed to stop at a light, injured the driver of the car that struck it—a Mission Viejo woman who was knocked unconscious and rushed to the hospital. The crane accident, which caused the intersection to close for several hours, remains under investigation.
