According to a recent article, a tragic accident took place in Laguna Beach on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. According to the Laguna Beach Police Department (LBPD), the head-on wreck took place between the 73 toll road and El Toro Road on Laguna Canyon Road, just after 6:30 a.m., taking the lives of two men and causing extensive road closures during the investigation.
LBPD Sgt. Louise Callus explained that a northbound Tesla, driven by Robert M. Pettis, of Laguna Beach, “for an unknown reason, veered into oncoming traffic,” striking a Honda Accord driven by 46-year-old Alberto Casique-Salinas, of Anaheim. Casique-Salinas and his passenger, 38-year-old Armando Garcia-Gonzales, of Santa Ana, both died at the scene of the accident as a result of their injuries. Pettis was transferred to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo with minor injuries.
Authorities believe that a third driver in a Mercedes Benz may have more information about what caused this fatal accident, but police have been unable to locate the driver. There is some indication that Pettis and the driver of the Mercedes Benz may have had an exchange that led to Pettis swerving into the southbound lanes and colliding with the Honda Accord. Authorities do not believe that drunk driving played a part in this fatal car accident.
The Orange County car accident attorneys with Russell & Lazarus offer our condolences to the family and friends of the two men killed in this tragic accident, and we urge anyone with further information about the circumstances leading to the accident to contact the LBPD.
