For the past few months our law firm has been raising money for the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life event. Paralegal Teri Penniston was inspired not only for personal reasons but also wanted our firm to celebrate the life of a special client Emma Garcia who recently passed away from cancer.

In the weeks leading up to the event Mandy Culler and Dani Glidden went all out getting donations and making sure the staff was signed up and ready to participate. Helene Russell, entered the Chili Cook off and won 3rd place for her famous Chili. The spirit of the team was contagious and noticed by the judges because we were also awarded “Most Spirited”…some crazy dance moves on the course helped, I am sure.

When it was all said and done the team had accumulated over 70 miles and raised over $2,500.00 – The team was given a “Bronze” award for their fundraising efforts. There was not a dry eye during the Relay For Life Luminaria Ceremony, where votive candles are lit inside of personalized bags to shine a light on the fight against cancer.

The relay was complete when Emma’s son Henry arrived to show his support and love for his mother. Our team would like to thank all who helped us to exceed our fundraising goal and for supporting our efforts to fight cancer.
